They say that Christmas comes just once each year. Maybe this is true. But I urge my reader not to be boxed in by Decemberistic definitions of that magical gift-giving day. For once every April, there comes a glorious day for audiophilic vinyl junkies and music snobs alike. I speak, of course, of National Record Store Day. It’s exactly what it sounds like, folks. A celebration of that obscure, hole-in-the-wall record store in your hometown …

In a valiant effort to vanquish the devilish “Projects Board,” WPRB embarked on a vicious quest for victory in Dillon Gym for Princeton University’s dodgeball tournament.
It was a bloodbath. At the sound of the first whistle, WPRB-ers rushed towards the centerline to acquire all the dodgeballs. The Projects Board, however, had the same idea, and they too rushed to the center with a slightly more aggressive and naturally quicker gait. WPRB would not let this …

2. Madvillain remixed by Four Tet, “Great Day”

DJ Reed, whose show airs Thursdays 3-5 pm, unearthed this track, which earned bonus accolades from LP. German pre-industrial music, Spanish lyrics – what’s not to like about “Los Ninos del Parque” by Liasons Dangereuses?
From Reed: “It’s crazy. It’s good. So good that someone called in right after I played it and was like, ‘What is that?’”

The James and Andy Show delivers a fine selection of electro, rock, and hip-hop each Friday, 4-6 pm! DJ James now presents this week’s musical discovery:
In the last week or so since this single’s release, Ifan Dafydd has been speculated by internet forum users to be:
a) James Blake’s former flatmate
b) James Blake’s cousin
c) James Blake himself
While in fact being a distinct musician entirely, it’s easy to see that Ifan is picking up on the melodic, …

The first sign of the funk was a woman in a pink cellophane dress, talking to her friend in a blue version. Nothing says down to party like a cellophane dress, I’ve always said. Small World had decked out …
